The Lotus Flower in Thailand holds a special significance to the Thai people. Many times when we see a Lotus Flower we instantly recognize it as a flower that is steeped in history. With strong Buddhist ties, the Lotus has many different meanings.

Interestingly, almost anyone can grow the lotus plant and it can be seen spotted throughout Thailand in the most unassuming of places. Many times you will notice a lotus in a road side ditch as a Thai villager peddles by on their bike. Bua, Pathum and Ubon are all names used by Thai people to describe the Lotus. It is not unusual to be introduced to many Thai nationals who share this name. With properties that not only relate to the practice of Buddhism, there are other uses for the regal lotus flower. Scientists have conducted extensive studies on the use of parts of the Lotus flower in modern medicine. It was found that the petals stem and roots were all significant in remedying certain conditions in the human body.
